”The House from the Mountain” Strungari - the place where children and ideas evolve

P ianu commune in partnership with ”Support the Children” Alba Iulia Association implements the project ”Complex of integrated services” Pianu, funded with financial support of RO10-CORAI Program, funded program by EEA Grants 2009-2014 and managed by Romanian Social Development Fund (FRDS) having an 1.943.931.60 lei value. The project activities are implemented in the Strungari village, Pianu Commune from Alba country, and in 10 target schools in Alba.

The project is aimed at "developing the degree of social cohesion for 400 children in situations of risk in Alba", by involving parents, specialists and volunteers from schools, public institutions and an NGO with relevant activity in the field of social inclusion.

The innovative element of the project constitutes the creation of a Network of social welfare in schools, which is designed to improve the relationship school-family-community, aimed at applying the principles of social welfare within the educational system.

Our project addresses to four serious problems, such as:

  • the risk of school dropout of children in mountain villages and the low level of social inclusion;
  • social marginalization of children in situations of neglect or diverse difficulty, both in rural areas and those from cities that have suburban areas (villages/hamlets);
  • the low level of information and involvement of parents in school life and community;
  • the scarcity of skills of employees and volunteers who work with children at risk.

On these issues, Pianu Hall acts in partnership with nongovernmental sector since 2002, and results motivates us to extend what we do, to establish other facilities leading to the provision of integrated services, both for children in our community and for other children in Alba county, in whose problems we have proven that we have solutions.
